With the falling out of the Mayweather/Pacquiao and Mosley/Berto fights, Golden Boy Promotions made no hesitation in making sure that a superfight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and “Sugar” Shane Mosley take place. Mosley (#1 ranked welterweight) and Mayweather (#3 ranked welterweight) is a fight that the whole world has been waiting to see.

“The negotiations were very cordial, and went very smoothly,” stated Mayweather advisor Leonard Ellerbe.

Although Mayweather has not officially signed his portion of the contract, Ellerbe assures that it is only a formality. With Mosley agreeing to random drug testing via blood withdrawal, Mayweather will have no issues at all signing. It was because of this type of testing that the Pacquiao fight fell through. Final payouts for the fighters have yet to be exposed, but some sources state that they will reach the 9 figure range.

Mosley (46-5 39 KO) is considered to be by some as the only true challenger to Mayweather’s perfect 40-0 record. Mayweather has made quick work out of his last few fights between world class fighters Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Juan Manuel Marquez. With the anticipation clearly over the horizon, it’s only time before we will truly know who America’s number one fighter is. Tune into the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1st, 2010, and be part of boxing history.
